City of Hammond Working to Create the Hammond Comprehensive Master Plan
The City of Hammond is creating a Comprehensive Master Plan which will be combined with previous planning efforts and studies to create a workable plan and roadmap to guide development, policy, and growth decisions.
The City hosted a charrette the week of December 4 - 9, 2009 to ensure that all stakeholders in the community—residents, businesses, property owners, and City administration— all had an in-depth first chance to guide and take ownership of the plan. The intensive week-long public design process was well-attended and generated a preliminary consensus vision for the City.
While the charrette is the centerpiece of the project’s public involvement, the development of the Comprehensive Master Plan for the City of Hammond shall continue into summer of 2010 and feature many opportunities for participation.
The City is working with the consultant teams of Dover, Kohl & Partners; Hall, Planning and Engineering and Villavaso & Associates. The City has partnered with Northshore Community Foundation which is providing technical assistance and financial support.
